📜 The Afghan Hound File
The mountains of Afghanistan produced a coat that was winter gear, not decoration. Britain brought the breed home in the 1880s; the American Kennel Club registered it in 1926. The standard calls for 27 inches at the withers in males and around 60 lb — and for the hipbones to remain visible: that is not poetry, that is the breed.Primary sources: AKC Afghan Hound breed standard (Hound Group) · FCI N° 228, Group 10 Sec. 1.3 (long-haired sighthound).
