«Three hundred years of spotted-uniform legend — and the firehouse escort is born pure white, paints itself, and runs on a liver that cannot close the valve. Nature creates wolves; human whim designs things like me… and left this one in charge of the horses.»

📜 The Dalmatian File
Born 100% white; the spots arrive around day 10–14 and keep forming until 12–18 months. The same extreme white-spotting gene links to congenital deafness (about 8% bilateral, 14–22% unilateral — Strain, 2004), and a recessive SLC2A9 mutation makes this the only dog on the planet that excretes pure uric acid (Bannasch et al., 2008). First written record as «Canis Dalmaticus»: 1374. Coach dog, then firehouse dog.
